HECC meets adult learners’ families’ needs in the classroom, but also at home.
Home Visitors are often one of the first professionals to assess a home for safety and identify issues for children early on–like difficulty speaking, walking, or reading. Home Visitors also connect families with other services that HECC provides.
WHAT DO FAMILIES AND HOME VISITORS WORK ON IN THE HOME?
Fine Motor Skills: Coach children to draw in coloring books or pick up a Cheerio to feed themselves.
Social and Emotional Skills: Practice using language about emotions and helping parents communicate with children when they are distraught and playing with other children of home visiting families at gatherings.
Physical Development: Running, jumping, and walking as children play in the HECC playground and in the local parks.
*Home visits are conducted at the Family Center and through Family Literacy program. They both use Early Head Start programming.
