Howard Area Community Center is now the Howard and Evanston Community Center!

We at the Howard Area Community Center are pleased to share that as of July 1, 2023, we have a new name – the Howard and Evanston Community Center!

This means we are now part of Metropolitan Family Services (MFS), one of Chicago’s first and best-respected human services organizations. MFS has been empowering Chicago-area families and communities for more than 166 years.

You might ask why we’ve made this change. We did so to help ensure our future. Howard Area carefully considered this transition and sought it out. In fact, we at Howard Area have been working with MFS since 2021 to lay the groundwork for this change, which is designed to strengthen our agency and ensure its community impact for years to come.

You might wonder if our commitment to the Greater Rogers Park Area remains. Without question, it does! Our name change also reflects the fact that Howard Area’s commitment to the Rogers Park and Evanston communities is stronger than ever, with support from MFS.

Know that the important services that we at Howard Area provided for children, youth and adults will continue. We will keep providing the tools and resources to empower individuals, enabling their independence and offering a better chance for a brighter tomorrow.

We and MFS share a passion for “Mpowering” those we serve. Together we look forward to doing that on an even greater level for residents of the Greater Rogers Park Area and Evanston today and into the future.

Howard and Evanston Community Center's story starts in 1967 when neighbors organized to give out food and clothing to lend a helping hand.
