FOOD ASSISTANCE
Our Food Pantry ALWAYS accepts new customers. Food distribution is Mondays from 2pm to 4 pm and Wednesdays from 10 am to 12pm. During inclement weather, we are distributing food inside of our building and in better weather, we will distribute outside of the building. First come first serve. All zip codes are welcome. If you need food assistance, call our main number at 773-262-6622 and press 0 to speak with the operator. If you call outside of regular hours, please leave your name, address, and phone number and we will add you to the list if space remains. You can also contact the Greater Chicago Food Depository to learn more about food resources near you. The Depository’s phone number is 773-247-3663, or you can visit their website at www.chicagosfoodbank.org.
Please note: we also distribute diapers sizes 1 to 6 (newborn to 18 months) and depending on the week we have laundry detergent, body wash, shampoo, hand soap, hand sanitizer, etc.
If you need emergency domestic violence services, contact our Domestic Violence Hotline at 312-256-6242. The hotline is open for calls 24/7. If this is not an emergency, but you are looking for long-term counseling and support, please contact Stacy Goodman, sgoodman@howardarea.org.

EMPLOYMENT

If you need assistance with finding a job or completing an unemployment application, call 773-262-3515 or send an email to chardwick@howardarea.org. Our case managers are working remotely, but they will assist you by telephone, email, or a web-based conferencing platform like Zoom.

EDUCATION

Adult learners can register for our English or GED classes with the option to learn in person or remotely. We also offer one-on-one and small group tutoring. Based on capacity, we have open enrollment throughout the year for both classes and tutoring. If a student would like to register for either classes or tutoring. REENTRY SUPPORT SERVICES

For information on assistance for parolees and individuals with a criminal background, please call our Reentry Support Center hotline at 773-332-6772 or send an email to jwilliams@howardarea.org.  If you reach the center’s voicemail, please leave your name and phone number. The Reentry Support Specialist will return your call within 24 hours.

MAIL SERVICE

Clients who receive mail at the main center may pick up their mail every Monday and Wednesday between 10a and 1p.
