Location: <\/b>Oakton Elementary School in southeast Evanston, 436 Ridge Ave, Evanston, IL 60202<\/p>\n

Reports to: <\/b>Barbara Kaufman<\/p>\n

General Description<\/b>:<\/span><\/p>\n

HARP is one of the longest-running literacy programs in the country\u2013serving children for over 40 years! We proudly serve students in the Greater Rogers Park Area and Evanston.<\/p>\n

Volunteer mentors work one-on-one with one student throughout the duration of the program. Students are in second through fourth grade. HARP Volunteers mentor and tutor children to combat illiteracy and build children\u2019s confidence in themselves and their academic ability.<\/p>\n

HARP Reading Specialists train new volunteers, using the National Louis University clinic model. All lesson plans and materials will be provided, and tutoring is always supervised by our program manager who will be able to provide support as needed.<\/p>\n

Substitute tutors would be reached out to as needed when a regular tutor cannot make the program.<\/p>\n

Time Commitment: <\/b>Must have availability during at least one of the time slots listed below.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Thursdays 3:10-5:00 PM<\/p>\n

November through mid-May<\/p>\n
